Mid West Concrete Pty Ltd (MWC) commenced operations in 1985 in Queen St Blayney by Max Osborne who at the time was the only employee. Max is a Blayney resident & has been for the past 38 years.
Max owned & drove one of the local school bus runs He developed MWC to fill in the hours between 9am & 3pm. MWC initially began making precast sumps (used for drainage) for the NSW Forestry Commission.
MWC expanded into headwalls after a short time & then developed the business further to incorporate septic tanks into the product line. At this stage, there were two employees – including Max!.
After several years of development & expansion of the supply of products already made, MWC relocated to its current premises at 84 Marshalls Lane Blayney in 2001. MWC added to its product line precast water troughs & feedlots for stock, & water tanks.
MWC currently employs 19 staff and produces approximately 120 water troughs weekly, as well as other products using 75m3 of concrete. This produces 165tonne of finished product which equals over 8000tonnes per annum. Sales of MWC reach approximately three quarters of NSW, as well as parts of Victoria & Queensland.
